Create custom databases for your card games

Forgefire lets you quickly create powerful databases for your cards by linking layout elements to text, numbers, graphics, and even dynamic items and lists.

When you connect your database elements to a card’s graphics template, Forgefire will seamlessly render full previews of your work.

Most tabletop gaming cards, like the one above, can be broken down into their constituent elements—text, numbers, and images—and then reassembled using your graphics template in Forgefire.

A design and development workhorse

Once your game database is created, Forgefire becomes your key development environment. Quickly review your cards, make changes, output testing groups, and prepare for manufacturing.

  • Organize cards by set

  • Customize list views

  • Inline list view editing

  • Rapidly produce play-test output

  • Card previews and notes

  • Manage alternate card layouts, reusable layout “fragments”, and much more…

Create games with custom logic

Digital print manufacturing allows publishers to break into a whole new category of games that are customized, personalized, or procedurally generated.

Forgefire includes powerful scripting and blueprint tools that give publishers control of any part of their game with logic and procedural generation.

Imagine creating “intelligent” packs of randomized cards where you define the causality and relationships between them. Picture enabling different artwork based on the procedural characteristics of each card. Customize names, assign unique IDs, incorporate QR codes, or vary the card backs to make each one unique.

With Forgefire, the options are limitless.

A Few Words from the
Creator of “Magic: The Gathering”

Being able to deliver procedural generation to board and card games opens up new possibilities that I suspect we haven’t even begun to imagine yet. I am excited by Forgefire and the possibilities it will open up.

Product rendering and output

Once your product components are ready, you can define “blueprints” in Forgefire to specify how components should be gathered for production.

Once established, a blueprint may be forged (i.e. rendered) for final output.

  • Output to high-res manufacturing-ready files

  • Output to PDF, InDesign, or JSON formats (more planned!)

  • Vector/Font output fully supported

  • Output to any localized language

Additionally, each blueprint can be linked to custom scripts to generate intelligent, personalized, or procedural output.

Monetize Forgefire content with B2C print-on-demand sales

Our Forgefire Connect service allows for direct-to-consumer sales of any content in FORGEFIRE enabled by the publisher.

Items such as posters, playmats, cards, and reference/faction sheets are all possible to sell via FORGEFIRE CONNECT.

After a product is enabled in Forgefire, consumers will be able to purchase it via the Forgefire Connect portal (located here). Orders are then output from Forgefire, custom-printed and finished by state-of-the-art digital manufacturing, and finally dispatched to the customer. No work or effort is required of the publisher other than the enabling of content in Forgefire.

Beyond cards

While the most probable use-case for Forgefire is game cards, the software can be used for any printed component, such as game boards, playmats, counters, reference sheets, posters, dice, and more.

Even packaging could be built inside Forgefire and output with personalized, procedural, or unique tracking elements.
